THE PROFESSIONAL MAKER

More control over every mark.

The full Halftone Maker on halftonemaker.org brings image adjustments, screen geometry and export settings into one workspace.

  • Image and tone

Load an image, adjust resolution, blur, gamma and contrast, and control how light and dark areas become marks.

  • Grids and shapes

Work with square, hexagonal, radial, line, ring or stipple layouts. Use dots, polygons, custom SVG shapes or characters.

  • Color and transparency

Choose duotone, gradients or source colors. Set ink and background colors, or enable a transparent background.

  • PNG and SVG output

Export a PNG for compositing or SVG for scalable geometry. Choose detail for the intended size; dense artwork can take longer to render.

FROM IDEA TO INK

Less setup. More making.

Meet the maker
  1. Bring something in.

Load a photo in the maker or photo effect tool. For a generated texture, start with patterns or dots instead.

  2. Find your frequency.

Adjust spacing, mark size and color. Compare at the intended display size so fine details remain readable.

  3. Take it somewhere.

Export PNG for a fixed-size composition or SVG for scalable geometry. Check dimensions and fine marks before placing or printing the result.

A FEW GOOD QUESTIONS

Before you
connect the dots.

What can I make with these halftone tools?+

Create dot textures, comic screens, retro photo artwork and transparent overlays. Choose a tool above for a specific starting point, or use the full maker for custom images, line screens and other shapes.

Is the halftone maker free to use?+

You can create and export PNG or SVG without signing up. Optional cloud features depend on the site's service configuration; ordinary editing runs in your browser.

What’s the difference between PNG and SVG?+

PNG is a raster image that works in most design apps and supports transparency. SVG stores vector shapes, so your dots stay sharp when resized in a compatible app.

Are my images uploaded?+

Normal editing and export run locally in your browser. If you explicitly use the optional background-removal service, that image is sent to the configured service.

Can I use this artwork for printing?+

You can export artwork for a print layout, but screen spacing in pixels is not a press specification. Check final size, resolution and minimum mark size with your printer, and proof the result before production.
